Who should not undergo a treatment?
Each of the following is a contraindication to our facials. If you are uncertain about any of the below, please contact your Local Skin Laundry.
LIGHT INDUCED SEIZURES
Please check with your neurologist if you are uncertain.
ACTIVE INFECTION
Including open, non-healed cold sores.
PHOTOSENSITIZING MEDICATIONS
Antibiotics, such as Doxycycline, Tetracycline, Sulfonamides - must wait one week after the last dose. Topical Therapy, such as 5-fluorouracil - must wait one week after completion of therapy. Photodynamic Therapy - must wait 2 weeks after completion of therapy. Oral Retinoids (Isotretinoin, Accutane) - must wait 6 months after the last dose. Chemotherapy - please check with your oncologist as some chemo medications can be photosensitizing. Diuretics may be photosensitizing. Please note, our medical team will review all medications being taken prior to treatment and will assess the skin to ensure it is at baseline and ready for treatment.
HISTORY OF SKIN CANCER ON THE AREA BEING TREATED
Requires medical clearance form. Please download here and consult your dermatologist.
VITILIGO
May still have treatment if vitiligo has never been present on area being treated.
BOTOX/FILLERS WITHIN PREVIOUS 5 DAYS
ANY OTHER NON-SKIN LAUNDRY LASER TREATMENTS, CHEMICAL PEELS, MICRODERMABRASION, OR MICRONEEDLING, DERMAPLANING, WITHIN THE PREVIOUS 2 WEEKS. (AFTER LASER HAIR REMOVAL - WAIT ONE WEEK BEFORE SKIN LAUNDRY FACIAL)
Healing stages may vary and your skin will be assessed during consultation.
CURRENT SUNBURN ON AREA BEING TREATED
SPRAY TAN/SELF-TANNING LOTION ON TREATMENT AREA WITHIN PREVIOUS 1 WEEK
ANY PAST SYSTEMIC THERAPY WITH GOLD
Whether injection-based, intravenous or oral.
OTHER PRECAUTIONS AND SUGGESTIONS FROM OUR MEDICAL TEAM.

These are not contraindications:
- Those with a history of cold sores should be aware that they may be triggered by heat/light and prophylactic antiviral medication is recommended.
- Those with known keloid scarring should be educated about their increased risk of keloid formation. Okay to treat, just avoid area of hypertrophic or keloid scar.
- For bearded clients, it's ideal to come in clean shaven or with only up to 2 days stubble, as we will avoid areas with facial hair growth.
- Glow Peel enhancement and Carbon Laser Facial are not permitted during pregnancy or while nursing.
